US Non-Alcoholic Beverages Market Size & Forecast (2024-2028)

While the traditional non-alcoholic beverage sector remains a large and mature industry, a new, dynamic, and culturally significant category has emerged: low and no-alcohol (low/no) beverages designed as direct alternatives to beer, wine, spirits, and RTDs.

This report maps where growth is coming from, what actually drives purchase at shelf, and what exporters (and US brands) need to do to win distribution and repeat.

Headline findings (USD):

  • A $4.7B market (2024) projected to reach $6.9B by 2028. Beer is the largest, RTDs are the fastest-growing.

  • Taste sells the category. “Flavour description” is the #1 purchase driver - well ahead of brand and packaging, followed by price.

  • Mainstream single-serve demand concentrates at $3–$5, drops sharply above $7. Most consumers expect low/no spirit bottles below $30.

  • Supermarkets and mass merchandisers are the backbone of volume. Online is underdeveloped but valuable for replenishment and subscribers.

  • Awareness is uneven across categories. Beer has clear leaders, while ~half of consumers can’t name a single low/no wine/spirit or RTD brand even when prompted.

  • Top moments for consumption are relaxing at home and social gatherings, with bars/restaurants key for trial - especially for spirits.
